What, you’re crazy, you can’t do that, why, you’re too unfit, you’re too busy, were you alcohol affected when you committed? Well these are just some of the questions I’ve been asked recently about my commitment to ride 500kms in 5 days in stinking heat in Thailand next year, and I haven’t ridden a bike since I was 14 years old and I’m 46 now!

Well here is the reason. I want to raise money and make a difference to kids who need help, that is the most important reason.

I also want to get fitter (we all do don’t we) and I want to show those who think I CAN’T that I CAN. As a business owner we all need to get out of our comfort zone, make decisions , take risks and have a CAN DO attitude. Well this is my CAN DO task for the next 5 months. Raise money, train and get on the bike and finish!!

Why am I telling you. Well I need your support .Each rider has to raise a minimum of $5000 to be a part of it. (I’m aiming for at least $10,000). We pay our own costs to get there and be there. All the money donated goes to charity Hands Across The Water who do the most incredible work with orphanages in Thailand.

I’ll tell you something though, I’m not looking forward to the 40 degree heat and humidity, or the sore butt but I’m hoping the pain will  just melt away when I get to the end of the journey and see the orphanages with more than 100 children, with the biggest cheekiest grins on their faces and realise I’ve done something to make a difference in someone’s life!

What’s even more exciting for me, is that hopefully I can inspire you too. Make that hard business decision that you’ve been procrastinating about, or take on that personal challenge you’ve been putting off, or find a cause that you can contribute to. Go on, you CAN !!.

I’m excited and nervous but I really hope you can follow my journey . To sponsor me please click on the link below , then click on the green  Sponsor Me icon and fill in the details. It’s easy and TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Anything you can contribute is appreciated. I’d love a minimum of  100 sponsors  to contribute $100 each. That would be awesome.

Thank you so much for your support of our business and for your support for my ride. It means a lot.

Kind regards,

Paul Dobson

PS: Hands Across the Water was established by Australian , Peter Baines.

Peter Baines led national and international teams in response to the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004.His skills as a specialist in crime scene forensics were called upon for the onerous task of identifying the victims. Peter also performed in this role in the aftermath of the Bali bombings.

It was the plight of orphans of the tsunami in Thailand that prompted Peter to set up Hands Across the Water, a charity that has gone on to build two orphanages and provide other aid to these children. See link for more information
